October 2024
My play MONTHS ON END runs from October 10 to 20 at the Belfast Maskers theater in Belfast, Maine, and the play and production got a great write up in the Bangor Daily News. And I think it’s pretty much the nicest things anyone’s ever said about me.
“At its core, MONTHS ON END is about how we navigate time, change, and the unpredictable nature of life. The play examines universal themes such as the challenges of love, the trials of friendship, the strain of career aspirations, and the inevitable passage of time. Audiences will relate to the timeless struggle of balancing personal desires with the needs of loved ones, as well as the bittersweet moments of laughter and loss that punctuate our lives. A Kennedy Center honoree, Pospisil is a celebrated American playwright whose works have been produced across the United States and internationally as well as in TV and film. Known for his sharp wit and his ability to blend comedy with thoughtful observations on life, Pospisil has created a body of work that is both entertaining and insightful. MONTHS ON END premiered in 2003 and has been widely praised for its clever structure and its exploration of the passage of time in relationships. Pospisil’s finely tuned dialogue and humor paints a relatable portrait of how we move through the seasons of our lives — often together, sometimes apart — but always intertwined.”

I worked on an adaptation of a fun French comedy called Chers Parents by Armelle Patron and Emmanuel Patron over the winter. My English version is called OUR DEAR PARENTS, and I had a reading at New Circle Theatre Company on June 3. It was great to hear the play read out loud by a terrific group of actors and the feedback was good. I’m looking forward to working on revisions to the text over the summer.
Here’s the artwork from the production in Paris.

I’ve finally added my short film JANUARY to the website. JANUARY is an adaptation of the first scene from my play MONTHS ON END. I had a great time making it - okay, it was a little stressful too - and it got into 18 different film festivals, which I was pleased with. Hit the “film” tab above to watch it.
